I’m a photographer who loves capturing all the small moments in life.
The love for photography came young. It all started with disposable cameras and grew into an expression that took me out of myself. It became an outlet. An escape from the sadness, from the rough times, from the difficulty of everyday life. It became about communication. Inspired by my personal life, the hard times, the good times, the nature, and architecture of my environment. It was driven by color. By the pigments and hues that reflected my inner self. It grew into a way to tell raw stories, unfiltered and unchanged. My photography is based around other people and telling their authentic story though my lens. I absolutely love working with other humans and getting to know their story.
MY STORY
I always knew I wanted to connect with people through art.
The name “Grantland” is inspired by a couple of things. The larger of those is in honor of my younger brother Grant, who passed away. The other part of the name is “Grantland” itself, simply meaning “a large meadow.” Nature is something that always brings me inspiration and reminds me to slow down and breathe.
I really love to photograph families, weddings, engagements, couple sessions, newborn, etc. I would say my favorite session to photograph are the ones that feel intimate, like I am completely stepping into their world and mind, and they are allowing me to document exactly what their life is. I have a background in photojournalism, which heavily influences the way I view photography.
I know photographs are not something people do frequently. Most of the time, I am photographing someone for the very first time, I completely understand that getting photos is in a way splurging on something valuable, and I take that very seriously.
I want to deliver not only beautiful photos but create a really fun and safe environment for whoever I am photographing. By the time I am done photographing someone I truly want them to feel like I created a space for them to just be themselves and just feel beautiful.
Nothing fulfills me more than having a happy client that loves their photos and also had a great experience taking them. I have so much gratitude for every single person that trusts me with their photos. Whether it’s a wedding or their newborn photos, I absolutely know how valuable these photos are, and I still am and always will be extremely blessed to take on that role of documenting those moments.
Besides photography, I absolutely love going to coffee shops, traveling the world and spending time with my husband, daughter and our family and friends.
